It's our aim to bring good quality, freshly cooked, homemade food with sometimes a spin on the classics to Market Drayton.
My name is Kim Atkin and we took over the old Pastaman in October. We changed the name to Root Food and our aim is to bring good quality, freshly cooked, home-made food with sometimes a spin on the classics to Market Drayton.
We have been open throughout lockdown, and we are thrilled with the support and response we have had from the great people of MD and the surrounding area!
I have always been a foodie and love cooking and experimenting with different ideas. I have also worked in many businesses and know the town's people really well. I moved to MD when I was 15 with my parents to the Talbot pub and ended up running the place with my husband until 1990. We also created Bloomingtails the petshop and so now it is great to be part of the commercial town again!
I run the business with my Daughter Jennie who creates the most amazing cakes and also independently runs her own business (Root Cakes) which is such a great asset to our business! If you haven't tried one of her brownies or cakes, yet you haven't lived!
We also have the privilege of running the café at Hodnet Hall Gardens alongside Maynard's Farm for the 2021 season of which we are thoroughly enjoying working in such beautiful surroundings.
