Market Drayton is proud to have one of England’s finest gardens!
Wollerton Old Hall Garden in Market Drayton was designed by Lesley and John Jenkins since 1984, the garden is set around a Grade 2* 16th Century Hall (not open to the public) and has developed into an important modern garden in the English Garden tradition with echoes of Arts and Crafts
Covering 4 acres, it consists of a series of linked garden “rooms” filled with modern plantings.
The rooms are linked by almost exclusive use of perennials, but there are also recurring themes of oak beech and yew topiary. Design and scale and colour are important as is a wide range of plants. This has led to a significant collection of clematis, salvias and roses.
Vibrant colour and and an intimate atmosphere combine to make a visit to these beautiful gardens a joyful and uplifting experience. The herbaceous borders are like a jewel box, complemented by topiary, shrubs, archways, rosebeds, water features, paved and gravel paths, and little benches in secluded nooks where you can sit and savour the peace amid the delicate fragrance of the flowers.
