Market Drayton Future Connectivity

A one month ‘public engagement’ on Market Drayton’s Future Connectivity Plan closed on 10th June. (See page 3 of The Messenger) The purpose was for residents and businesses to comment on proposals they would like to see carried forward. When the results are in the public domain, Market Drayton Community Enterprise (MDCE) will give priority to publicising which ones were favoured by respondees, and if any of them are developed further, so that a wider cross-section of the community can be influential in the detail.

Key schemes identified include – 1) enhanced walking and cycling connections to, from and within the town, encouraging sustainable movements to key employment sites and providing a walking and cycling circuit around the town centre; 2) improving public transport routing and connections to encourage greater use of public transport; 3) improvements to make the town centre a more attractive place to live, work and visit – helping to support existing and new town centre businesses; 4) highway improvements to enhance capacity and support improved traffic flows and safety.

The Market Drayton Future Connectivity Plan and results of the public consultation will be available from Eric Davis, MDCE Secretary at
or on 01630 655778.
