Ashley & Loggerheads Community First Responders (Reg. charity no 1124848) — We are a group of local volunteers, who are trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) to provide emergency response to 999 calls within the local areas of Loggerheads, Ashley, Market Drayton, Knighton, Mucklestone, Cheswardine, Hales and all villages and communities in between. As we are local, we can be tasked by WMAS to attend calls locally and be there to provide life saving trauma care and first aid in those vital first few minutes before an ambulance can get there. We receive no funding from WMAS so rely on generous donations from the local community. These vital donations help to keep the car maintained and on the road, insurance, equipment and uniforms.
We are currently actively fundraising to replace our ageing responder vehicle which is over 11 years old, with a new vehicle which will hopefully allow us to continue responding for many years to come. In addition to the purchase of the vehicle, the group will need to fund equipping the vehicle with the necessary radios and equipment to allow communication between the responder and WMAS, as well as the distinctive Battenburg paint. The deposit has been placed on the new vehicle and we hope to take delivery by late November.
