Ginger & Spice Festival returns!

Ginger & Spice Festival traders application now open

Good news – the annual Ginger & Spice Festival returns this year and will be taking place on Saturday 25th September 2021* during British Food Fortnight!

After last year’s virtual event and a challenging 18 months with lockdowns. It is fantastic to see the festival return to the high street & town for a fun packed and spicy celebration.

SPICY STREET MARKET – Sat 25th September

At this year’s Ginger & Spice festival, you can enjoy a FREE spicy street market on Cheshire street from 9am to 4pm. Here you will be able to find a range of local, artisan producers and traders many selling wares with a ginger and spicy twist!

HERITAGE TOWN TRAIL – Sat 25th September

There is also a free of charge self-guided heritage trail & contest  available for families. This incudes visiting buildings and places of historical significance, with fun ‘best dressed gingerbread person’ contest for the little ones, plus a heritage quiz with artisan hampers prizes for 2 lucky winners! Pick up a trail leaflet outside the Leek United Building Society on the High Street.

BRAND NEW – FODDER & TIPPLE TRAIL – Sat 25th September

Meander through the streets of Market Drayton and out into the Shropshire countryside – including the Shropshire Union canal & Floating market- on the brand new ‘Fodder and Tipple’ Tasting Trail.This ticketed event will include local tasting courses & refreshers at several stop offs along the 5 mile route, plus a goody bag with local artisan produce!  Tickets must be brought in advance – see what’s on via website.

FLOATING MARKET  – Sat 25 & Sun 26 September

Floating Market - Ginger & Spice Festival

The Roving Canal Traders Association are also coming along for the first time with their Floating Market! They will be located between bridges 63&64 opposite ladybird mooring form 10am to 5pm on both Sat 25th and Sun 26th September.

GINGERBREAD TALK & CONTEST

In homage to being the home of gingerbread the festival has invited food historian, writer and gingerbread aficionado, Sam Bilton, to give an online talk about the history of the biscuit – see website.
