‘GO GREEN’

This is our programme for the ‘Go Green’ festival to be hosted by the Festival Drayton Centre on 29th October, 2021.

‘GO GREEN’

THE PROGRAMME

09.00 Auditorium opens for Exhibitors to set up one hour before opening to visitors. WiFi is available. Please ask at Foyer Reception for access code. Sufficient tables (6 ft x 3 ft) will be available – so exhibitors must not bring their own. Please ensure any promotional stands etc are not over-wide as space is tight.

09.30  Café opens.

09.45  Expect first visitors to ‘gate-crash’

10.00  Open to Visitors.

10.15  Housekeeping announcements.  Formal opening by Town & County Councillor Ian Nellins and, if able, the Leader of Shropshire Council, Councillor Lezley Picton.

14.00  Café closes.  Festival closes to the public and Exhibitors can start breaking down.

14.30-15.30  In an adjacent suite, yet to be confirmed, MDCE will launch its local campaign to promote Shropshire Climate Action Partnership’s (SCAP) Zero Carbon Shropshire’s Plan (ZCSP) to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.  This Plan identifies a series of recommended actions suitable for everyone – from individuals and households to businesses and local government.  The COP26 UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Glasgow between 1-12 November will provide an impetus to local actions.  It is anticipated that two or three speakers will give a talk on major Environment and Climate Change concerns.  One person who has agreed to speak is Dr Roy Alexander on behalf of the Ashton Hayes, Cheshire, Carbon Neutral Project that has achieved remarkable success since launch in 2006.  Members of the Project now wish to provide their expertise to guide similar projects.
