Market Drayton Traders association is a ‘Community Interest Company’ (CIC). It aims to increase footfall in the town by encouraging and publicising local initiatives.
Dan Thomas of Refill Emporium on Cheshire street says “If every adult in Market Drayton spent just £5 per week in their local independent businesses instead of in chains it would be worth an extra £2.3 million per year to the local economy, which means more jobs, better facilities & a richer experience of our town centre.”
We have several projects in the pipeline such as a ShopLocal loyalty scheme, a monthly artisan producers’ market, a monthly walking market and a ‘Fiver Fest’ which is scheduled for June 12th – 26th.. The new website is online this month, thanks to funding from the Town Council (www.marketdrayton.org.uk). We hope this will become an online presence for Market Drayton, its businesses, and the community as a whole. See the new website for details of the next Fiver Fest – a nationwide initiative to encourage people to shop local (but not be put off by feeling they have to spend more than they would in a supermarket) – local traders will offer something special for just £5.00 – Feel free to browse around.
