(RBL)

Many people will not be aware that there are two parts to Market Drayton Royal British Legion.

There is the RBL Branch, which is a Charity, and the Legion Club, which is effectively a business. The RBL Club has been closed since November but intends to re-open on Mon 21st June.

Throughout the past year Market Drayton RBL Branch has assisted with several Welfare issues for Serving and Ex Service personnel. The small memorial garden in the Town Park has also been enhanced with the addition of shrubs. Thank you to Paul Watkins for his work on the garden area.

Market Drayton Branch has also played a leading role in events and commemorations throughout the Lockdown. These events included the VE Day Virtual Commemoration, VJ Day, a Virtual Remembrance Sunday commemoration and a tribute to HRH The Prince Philip.

The Branch will continue to support the interests of Service and Ex Service personnel and to lead on.

The RBL Club offers a comfortable lounge for social gatherings or just a quiet drink. It also boasts 2 full size Snooker tables and a Pool table and enters teams into local Snooker and Pools leagues and competitions. The large Function Room is also available for private functions and activities. To book the Function Room call the Club office on 01630 652150 and leave a message with your contact details. You will get a response.

Plans are being made to make better use of the Club and hopefully it can again become a great entertainment venue for Market Drayton. New members and new ideas are welcomed.

Cpt. Moore

A new mural has appeared in Market Drayton thanks to Mark Whittle, a former town mayor. Mark produced this mural on the wall outside the Royal British Legion building on Church Street in tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore who raised over £30m in donations for NHS Charities Together.
