There can’t be many of us who have not tried at sometime to master a foreign language. Many will have been put off by boring Grammar fueled lessons that are largely ineffective. Then there is the cost: a short 10 week x 1.5hrs course will cost in excess of £100 and private tuition about £30ph. No surprise then that most resort to self study. To be honest that’s the journey I am on and the internet provides a wealth of varied platforms.
Recently I joined a not so local conversation group and it certainly helps. You get to meet a variety of fellow learners of different abilities and work together on the quest of language acquisition. Whilst I intend to remain with this group it would be nice to have a local resource.
So the idea is if you are interested join us for a couple of hours at Stoke on Tern Parish Hall.
The format will include the use of a graded reader (an ‘easy reader’ language book), videos and flash cards to prompt the use of your chosen language. The format is not set in stone but will evolve to accommodate the group. Cost will be minimal at £2 per session to defray the costs of refreshments, hall hire and the purchase of learning materials. Above all the emphasis will be on fun and learning in a safe and supportive environment. Initial sessions will take place on Mondays at a time that suits the majority.
