Shropshire,

A story of co-operation

Market Drayton Ramblers

Following an article in the Messenger, Ramblers were contacted by a resident of Cheswardine who complained that her regular walk had been halted due to the collapse of two stiles.

This alerted Ramblers footpath team who after the necessary arrangements sprang into action and replaced the failed stiles with new Kissing Gates.

Kissing Gates

An explanation of the footpath team is perhaps wanted here. They are part of a collaborative Shropshire Council Team called the Parish Paths Partnership (3Ps) which identifies and solves path problems in Market Drayton Parish. Anyone can join by applying to the Council but Ramblers are usually the main members and lead the team. The hardware and equipment is supplied by Shropshire and the labour by the 3Ps. This whole exercise can thus be described as a well coordinated co-operation between Press, Town and County.

Please see photos of Mary Lowe/friend standing with one of the new Kissing Gates.

If you have been impressed by this event you can join in similar activities by joining Ramblers. We walk twice a week in the local area or further afield. You can follow us on Facebook Groups and see our latest outings or ring Bill on 07962848212 for more details.
